“Authority may give you a position, but service gives you influence.”
Mark 10:42–45
Jesus contrasts the way power is commonly used with the way his followers are called to lead. Kingdom authority does not need to diminish people in order to be effective.
Service can be practical: removing an obstacle, clarifying a decision, giving credit, creating safety or doing the work that helps another person flourish.
One faithful step
Ask one person what obstacle you can remove, then serve without seeking recognition.
